Final_Rebuttal: line-by-line analysis
Voting_Issues: at the end of the final speech, absolutely necessary
Jargon: should be kept to a minimum
Winner: the winner of the key arguments in the round.
Evidence: Evidence is always neccessary in LD Debate
Notes: I keep detailed notes throughout the round., If you are seeing me judge your round, you know that something hit the fan in the Tab room and we have run out of judges and we are calling on the last line of defense against insanity to judge your round. With that knowledge, know that I will be the crankiest judge you will encounter. Therefore, make sure that you are preflowed and ready to do the best debating you ever did in your life. Make my day, in other words and let me not drift. Keep your arguments simple at this stage in the debate because all of us will be tired. If you are not referring to Contentions, but "Cards" and "Dr. LazyBones Analysis," you're in trouble with me. I am one of those olde fashioned LD debate purists in the Legion of Doom. Make it simple for me to clearly see that you won. Good luck at Nationals!

Winner: the winner of the key arguments in the round.
Evidence: Evidence is not neccessary in LD Debate
Notes: I keep a rigorous flow., I am a flow judge. If you do not follow the flow and signpost/roadmap the heck out of your case I miss things. If I miss things, I cannot flow them to you. PLEASE go in order of the flow, not in order of key issues. Save key issues for the final speech. In addition to having a strong rebuttal, you must quote philosophers, demonstrate a value clash and have a good case structure to win. I often vote on the value structure in very close cases, so make sure it is tight and all of your contentions support it.

Notes: I keep detailed notes throughout the round., I am a retired trial attorney who teaches history/government and coaches debate. I look for logical, well organized arguments and a conversational but persuasive style. I want to hear the philosophy and the evidence that support your position. LD and PF are distinct debating categories from Policy. Thus Policy Jargon does NOT impress me in L/D or PF. If you speak so fast that I have difficulty understanding you, I will vote against you; all other things being equal. I expect courtesy and professionalism between debaters during CX & rebuttals. Ad Hominum attacks will cost you the round.

Notes: I write down the key arguments throughout the round., Solid logic and reasoning and strong responses to your opponent are great. I flow -- probably not "rigorously." Rapid talking is ok, but ultra speed spread doesn't impress me. Neither do cards you don't really understand. You should crystallize the round, but I don't have a specific structure for how you do that -- be clear and persuasive. Have fun!
